Shanghai Financial Court and Related Units Jointly Initiate the Establishment of China Financial Law Institute, Fudan University

On March 30, China Financial Law Institute, Fudan University, was formally co- established by Shanghai High People’s Court, Shanghai Financial Court, People’s Bank of China Shanghai Head Office and Fudan University. Liu Xiaoyun, Secretary of the Party Comnittee and President of Shanghai High People’s Court, Jiao Yang, Secretary of the CPC Fudan University Committee, Jin Penghui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC People’s Bank of China Shanghai Head Office Committee and Governor of the People’s Bank of China Shanghai Branch, Mao Ronghua, Deputy Secretary of Party Comnittee and Vice President of Shanghai High People’s Court, Sun Hui, member of the CPC People’s Bank of China Shanghai Head Office Committee and Deputy Director of the People’s Bank of China Shanghai Head Office, Zhao Hong, Secretary of Party Comnittee and President of the Shanghai Financial Court, Liu Xiaohong, Deputy Director of the Legal Affairs Department of the People’s Bank of China, and Chen Zhimin, Vice President of Fudan University attended the inauguration ceremony.

At the ceremony, the four parties signed the Agreement on the Joint Construction of China Institute of Rule of Law in FinanceFudan University and unveiled the institute. President Zhao Hong stated that Shanghai Financial Court is willing to cooperate with academia and the financial industry to build the institute into a research pacesetterwhich promotes innovation in the theory and practice of rule of law in finance, trains financial legal experts and judicial practice backbones, and enhances cooperation and communication in the international rule of law in finance, so as to provide more intelligent support for the construction of Shanghai international financial center.

After the ceremony, an academic forum with the theme of “Financial Development and the Rule of Law in China” was held. Participants made speeches on topics such as “Thoughts on Regulatory System Supervising Platform Companies Engaging in Financial Business” “Rule of Law in Finance in the Context of High-level Opening-up” “Finance and Implementation of the Civil Code,” etc.

By integrating law and finance and other disciplines , China Financial Institute, Fudan University will build itself into a top think tank as well as a leading research institution on rule of law in finance with powerful influence in Asia, and will contribute to the modernization of China’s financial governance system and governance capabilities.
